To Whom This May Concern: what's up!? :-)
Sooooo yeah.. ummmm... first and foremost I want to make it clear that I was once a naturalista about 5 years ago using primarily a product called "Wave Neuvo" during my transition. ((shrugs)) I just didn't know any better. My hair for the most part after transitioning and the big chop for a year grew rather quickly and healthy. I loved it for only about 2 years and then grew rather bored with my hair.
I didn't know how to style my hair, had no clue what products to use, I was BORED!!... and hence I relaxed it with chemicals again. I personally feel that it was a phase of wanting to do something different with my hair. I received some back lash from friends who are natural...saying things like "girl don't perm your hair its beautiful.. whatever... their words simply gave me more ammunition to relax . I didn't feel as though I am betraying my black sisters conforming to European influence. I just wanted something different.
On the other hand.. I had someone tell me, that I need to straighten my hair when I was natural. Humph.... You simply can't please everyone. But I can please myself..
So I said all this to say I am currently transitioning back to natural.. or at least I'm going to give it a good try. and see what happens.. This time around I know more about natural hair due to "University of YouTube" AKA Tutorials.
It just seems like everyone is going natural. I know for some it is a trend and others it is a belief of being proud of our heritage, feeling free to be oneself and being true. This journey that I'm starting will help me unravel myself and what transitioning back to natural means to me.
I will share as I go.
I will try my best to take better selfies.. lol
LOVE is LOVE
