Bloom Where You're Planted

This Sunday I  had the pleasure of walking through Harlem and enjoyed every ounce of it's scenery.

Soaked up every corner, landscape and all of it's sounds like a sponge.

I don't always notice the art that surrounds me until I relax and breathe.  This Sunday I exhaled. 

Although I have lived in New York City for years now, my focus has always been on the dream of a small cottage home with a back yard, 2 car garage, and sharing tea and sweet potato pie with my lovely next door neighbors. Never really cared a lot about my current home, because I didn't want to be here.  But I have learned a lot over the past 5 years... Learned to absorb, and enjoy the current. let go of the anxiety of not having everything I want and realizing that I truly have everything I need.  Relax in what I have and be grateful for the present.

So this Sunday after some needed spiritual inspiration and dinner, we walked through the streets of Harlem, looking for desserts to indulge, we walked slowly, enjoyed the warm breeze of October, fall leaves and the ambiance of my home town.

This place I call home is truly warm, jazzy and blue. If you asked me 5 years ago.... Do you love NYC?  My response would be ... "I can't wait to move out of this congested city!"  although everything is very convenient to get to...as in subway, shopping and entertainment... (I was the epitome of  "that person"... who's always wanting more and never satisfied with what I have currently.)  Yes, I'm learning to make the best of what I have, knowing that eventually what I want will come,  but only if I'm focused and work toward my goal. Obstacles will come but I'm gonna keep moving forward!

I realized when the time is right, It will happen. but for now I will relax and make the best of what I have. Nurture my current dwelling place, enjoy the scents and sounds of my Harlem, learn about its history and culture, its essence and zest.

BE STUBBORN ABOUT YOUR GOALS, AND FLEXIBLE ABOUT YOUR METHODS.....
