I'm Your Canvas

Paint me an ocean
that flows through the forest
and embodies the reflection of you.
Include it's depth with long strokes.

I want to experience the core of your chasm.
Hold my breath with my eyes wide open.
Resurface and stay buoyant,
as the sun warms my soul,
beneath water ripples and
reflections of  the stars,

Close your eyes my love.....
paint me with your fingertips
knowing that every crevice and curve
of my being
has touched the light of the moon

Yes, you captured me from
my crown to the soul of my feet
amid the ocean in which you paint.

Whimsical Love

Artist: JJ Crittendon

Have you ever fallen in love with a unicorn?
I have..... let me explain.

He was a dreamer... never settled....
A searcher, a drifter, and he slept standing up.
Take my word as truth.

Don't make sudden movements
or your unicorn will disappear. I have proof.
He resurfaces only in your dreams.

He will trot towards you, and beckon you
to climb upon his back.
It's hypnotizing.
Sweep you off your feet
and proudly trot with you on sandy beaches.
Splashes in bright rainy sun showers
his wing span is beautifully impressive

We flew over grassy mountains and bright rainbows
blissfully with a smooth glide.
I stretch my arms to feel
the cool misty clouds run through  my fingertips...
We landed with ease... with a light pounce
and into a stylish slow gallop
I leaned over to wrap my arms around his neck
holding on firmly for comfort.
We paused for a taste of the blue ocean...

Suddenly, a loud wave crashed into the shore
this startled my unicorn.

We both turned simultaneously and
perfectly synchronized with the wind
to watch the large waves edged in white foam
slowly fade and receed into the ocean.

As we watched the cascading sand..
My unicorn started daydreaming about
his next mystical adventure....
but I was hoping to experience more of his whimsical charm

I faced him to grasp his stare and interrupt his dream.
reached out to carress him for comfort,
but he faded into sparkles of many colors
and blended with the sand.

Slowly I opened my eyes to my dim room.
The rain relishly hitting my window pane.
The morning appeared dimsal.
Reminiscing my dream.
There is no such thing as charming unicorns.

Free Falling

Illustrator: JJ. Crittendon

I fell in love too fast
I should have held back
It's just that he showed me a certain type
of majesty, royalty...I mean...
Look at me ... I am regal.
It was something I never felt before
The warm felling of being special
Treated as a precious gem
It felt so becoming of me.
But I should have held back
I fell in love way too fast
